Hey Scotty..got your skid out and first thing I see is the upper large wheel on LHS wobbling like crazy.Seems the c-clip had jumped out of groove and deformed.I have pics for you.The wheel itself might have taken a little damage in the groove..so I have an extra wheel I could use.The bearing on other side is shot to.Then I removed the 2 small upper wheels and bearings.A little noise in there..but I will install 2 brand new NTN blue seal bearings I have here. Will repack the one bearing on the large upper wheel and install another used one I have and repack it to..all I have.
The front shock is moving..so that is good and we know from last time the rear shock moves.Bushings on 4 upper wheels still good, bushings on front of w-arm need replacing..I have them new here.I cleaned out all the old grease from inside the sleeves where shafts slide into.I am going to drill spots on the transfer rod where it mounts skid and install grease Zerks. The w-arm looks good..can't see any cracks anywhere..surprised really. Guess your going to have to ride more aggressive and jump more...lol.I will also drill and install grease Zerks in the mount plates to skid for the w-arm.
I was thinking since you only have 3 rear wheels on rear axle..I could install a fourth wheel that I have spare.I do have new spacers to use.I will see.The rear wheel bearing sound good..I'll repack them since I don't have any spares. The idler wheels also can repack if they rotate smooth yet..otherwise I have a bunch of them bearings here new.Gonna see if I can install them roller bearings into the front front of skid since the rubber bushings have a lot of play in them.If the bushings in there are half decent..then I can slide the roller berings over them and like magic..tighter fit..less play.
Won't be a major job as your skid over all in good shape.I will clean the metal parts and give them a spray of graphite coating to help things not rust so much. There will be some new parts used and I'll keep track of what I used .

PS: good thing I caught the upper wheel with the clip deformed.Otherwise you could be riding and all of a sudden the wheel would jump of the bearing and cause some major noise and your track would of slacked off that side..

cheers

I am not finished yet..lol Got w-arm off and brackets.Drilled grease fittings into the mounting brackets ..this will help. When I took it apart there was so much play in those brackets.Plus I shimmed with metal strips the bushings in the shocks..now the bushing is snug in there..it was pretty sloppy before. All these little things will help the suspension work like it should..without the slop..more instant reaction...

can you see them grease fittings in the pics..also shimmed the plastic bushings and the solid bushing inside is now tight also.

stay tuned for more updates Scott..yeah don't look like winter wants to come this season..nuts that the temps are up..colder on weekend..but not much snow in forcast for next 10 days.... :o| :o| #$%&* :letitsnow

Let me know when you're done with his sled Blue, I'll bring mine over next! lol
Seriously, I've read quite a few of your threads about the maintenance you've done on your sleds over the last couple years. Pretty impressive how thorough you are and how much attention you give to details. Good work bud!

x2 Should work at yamaha lol ;)!

should lean that skid against the wall and replace it with something better. Once u switch, you never want to ride another pro-action again.

I am so used to riding with a Yami skid..it doesn't bother me at all..

Before I would start a business here..I would want to see if one of the big suppliers would allow me to be a dealer and then I could get parts pretty cheap.Seriously was thinking of doing something like that..

thanks...you have any snow yet..this is crazy waiting.Hey did you get them jets I sent you some 2 years back....lmao

update

well went thru the skid, changed all the bearings, found another upper wheel for you, installed a 4th wheel on the rear axle since yours only came with three wheels.Installed 4 grease fitting on w-arm mounts and 2 at the transfer rod location where it fastens to the skid.Changed limiter straps since I had some new ones on hand, yours were gouged and cut on both of them and the washers below that were bent upward.Never seen that before..There is nothing in that area that touch the straps..so go figure what caused this to happen. All bushings are shimmed with metal strips and everything is tight.Socks bushings shimmed for tightness also.Sat the sled down on the concrete and now the suspension is sitting like it should.I noticed the transfer rod gap prior wasn't 50/50.After all the work done there is the 50/50 gap now.So all the looseness in there is now gone and the skid sits correct again...good for many years. You should get better transfer now out of the hole..
There was some swearing today also and 2 big cuts on my hand ...so it wasn't all relaxing..lol..But after it is all done I am happy..but you were not here to learn how to do it ..so next time you will be working on it yourself..and let the swearing begin..lmao...

THE END

oh yeah..lookie at the straps here....

Do you have a link to the supplier?

$199 x 14 pcs = a sh*t hole of money.Only people that buy them bearings are Oil Executives as they have so much money coming out of their..you know what.... :o|

I thought I'd check MOTION INDUSTRIES up in Rockford Il. They have them all over though.
Their 6004 from THE LAND OF THE RISING SUN, was $19.61/bearing
Their 6205 " " " " " " " " $14.22/bearing
HOLLY HE!! BATMAN.

Just did this today...

the 2 upper small wheels are 6004
the 2 upper large wheels are 6205
the 4 rear wheels are 6205
the 6 idler wheels are 6004

The 6 idlers and the two small wheels on top are all the same bearing. The 3-4 rear wheels and the large upper wheels are the same bearing. I overpaid for bearings though, Wish I'd seen that link earlier. Not sure the brand I got, But NTM are on the cheap side(more then fine for bogey wheels though) I replaced my chaincase bearings with Timkens.
