I bought an IQ skid for my SRX. Was wondering if I could use the shock type rectangular lift to swap this out? Or will those bars get in the way and be hard to work around?
I bought an electric winch I was going to mount to my ceiling joist to jack the back way up but after reading a bit afraid that initially lifting it up with the skid installed would possibly pull down the joist.
How do you do this without buying the $250 back end lift that lifts the back up like 5 feet?
THANX!

I use a cherry picker. BUt I have seen some people take the hood off and lean it on its side to do it. But if you have a cherry picker it works real well.

been using the winch from the ceiling for years now.It is cats meow.Used it to lift motors out of sleds easily and lift back end of sled to remove skids and do maintenance checks..works nice...
X2 on a cherry picker. My cherry picker has support legs that fold up, and since the sled isnt that heavy you only need to have one leg down. That means you have one side that is open for pulling the skid out with nothing in its way.

I lift the entire front end of my sled up high enough to back my lifted truck under it. All i'm using is a come-along attached to a 14 foot long 2x6 joist in my garage. Sure it squeaks and creaks but it never lets me down!

you really dont need to lift the rear & skid together anyway. Just take the weight off the suspension, remove the bolts, & lift it the rest of the way up to get the skid out. rear of sled is pretty light without the skid in. But otherwise, I lift my rear, or front from my 2X6 truss. Never had a problem. Lay a pipe or angle or board perpendicular to the trusses on top of them then hook lift to that. Then u can spread the load over 3 or 4 trusses, or however many u span.

It is... I've actually doubled that one up for some added peace of mind but it never gave me problems before that.YZViper366 said:SOunds a little sketchy for me Haha.

You can hang it from the ceiling no problem, it's not that heavy. Also if you have a sled lift, you can take a bolt out and fold one leg down to take the skid out. I have had all of my sleds on the lift with one leg down and it is plenty stable, even run them on there that way.

I threw a 12ft long 4x4 in the trusses of the pole barn, trusses are 2ft on center so its hitting a few and I lift LOTS of stuff with a chain fall. If you hit a few trusses you should be able to lift the entire sled off the ground with no worries.

with an electric winch mounted to the ceiling..sure makes it easy to lift my motors out of the chassis. Easy to guide motors back in..hook up oil lines..etc.. and lower down slowly..no more back breaking for me.Same with lifting rear of sled right up there until it is nearly just on the ski tips...lol

I always found it to be easier to tip it on its side.
