Skip to bottom of post after EDIT, already figured out the first part.
Looking at purchasing a reverse kit for an 05 Vector Mtn. Found a kit off an 04 RX-1 that everything is the same but the bottom gear (38T instead of 40T).
My question is for the 05 Vector Mtn reverse kit it shows to use a 40 tooth 8FB-47587-00-00 bottom gear which is 16.9mm wide and uses the 94890-090XX chain.
The gear in there right now is the 8DW-47587-01-00 which is also 16.9mm wide and uses the 94890-090XX chain. Can I use the original non-reverse 8DW 40 tooth in the reverse kit or do I need the 8FB 40 tooth that the reverse kit shows?
Please explain the differences and why I can or cannot use my current bottom gear.
EDIT: I figured out the differences between the gears.
How big of difference would I see from a 40T to a 38T? It'd be from 2.00 to 1.90 ratio. Would this be ok in the Mountains? Thanks.
