Since hyfax for a 144" Viper Mountain is about $45 a piece and hyfax for a 162" Apex Mountain is about $12 a piece, could a guy just buy the Apex Mtn hyfax then cut them down to size and put them on the Viper?
The Viper in question is an 05 so it is the same Pro Mountain suspension as an Apex. The only big difference is the length of the rails.

cut to fit. be sure and duplicate the bevel at the rear of the hyfax. depending on which ones you get, the 4 strokes had a different profile, wider at the bottom, still fits the rails but you may have to enlarge a track window to get them in if you dont pull the skid. considerable window size difference between the 2.52's and the 3" pitch tracks.
I have heard that the bevel on the rear is only important if you have reverse.

I would be pulling the skid out to replace them so I shouldn't have to worry.

that bevels been there long before reverse. its a clickity clickity annoyance as the track clips rotate past. in my experience, the bevel would have nothing to do with reverse. i have never had the luxury.sxr70001 said:I have heard that the bevel on the rear is only important if you have reverse.

been there and done that, works like a charm. I had to do it for my 05 mtn Viper aswell (extended to 151).

Thanks for the great info. Knowing somebody has done this as well gives me a piece of mind.
