On my viper, I pulled my needles tonight because the plugs looked a hair lean after breaking it for a day. I found numbers 2 and 3 were set to position 3 and number 1 was set to 2.5. Is there a rational reason they would be different? I changed all of them back to spec of 3.5 to richen it up a little bit. Should I consider going to 4? I also found my exhaust manifold nuts has loosened up a bit. I assume it's normal to have to re-torque them after running.
The new ripsaw should be here on Friday or Monday, then this thing can go back together and wait for more snow.

If it's stock 4 would definitely be too rich. We have our 05's set to factory at 3.0. And we have rode them in -10 and lower weather at about 1400ft. here in Central ND.
Good discussion on needles here. http://www.totallyamaha.net/forums/showthread.php?t=79836&page=3&pp=10&highlight=needles
I just moved mine to the 4th groove with both shims on top just to try to be safe.

Thanks guys.
I'm at 3.5 on the needles which is spec (4th groove, one shim over, one under if I remember correctly). Once I get it back together I'll put new plugs in it and run it again to see what it looks like. I'm getting pretty good at pulling the carbs off this thing so if I have to change them again, it won't take long.
