Well last spring took the chaincase apart on the viper and checked the bearings, reassembled everything according to the service manual "I thought". Started it up yesterday to get some of the fogging juice out of it and found I have no reverse, must of done something wrong, guess I'll be back in there for another try, oh well

Make sure the lever on the inside of the chaincase cover is engaged into the outer gear, if it's not the reverse lever will feel really "light" when you move it.

Found the problem, the levers on the inside of the outside cover that pulls the reverse gear out and engages it were not setting in the groove on the gear, working as should now !

I've done that a few times myself. Easy to do.
