just had my outer bushings replaced at a performance shop. i had the hardware, but the labor was $50. cheap fix with some heat and a puller.

I was told the same thing from my dealer about yamaha not selling the bearings individually. The rational was that "back in the day" people were buying vipers and instantly messing with the cranks. Those cranks failed then those individuals were trying to use the warranty. So Yamaha finally said enought and only sells the whole crank assembly.

That's what I was told. However, my dealer said that there are some ways to get the bearings and have a shop work it. I didn't have to do this but he seems to be really spot on with all his info so far.

my 2 cents

Contact Jeff at Midwest Crankshafts. He rebuilt a damaged crankshaft for my 2000 SRX: replaced two main bearings, a connecting rod and the connecting rod bearing along with welding the center crank pin for $300.

He is repairing a second crank for me which was repaired by someone else for the former owner of the sled. It needed an new connecting rod and bearing. Jeff is repairingthe crank for $180.

Jeff comes highly reccommended from several experienced members of this site.
