Is there any reason why an engine would require more fuel from the idle circuit then stock without any mods? I have an 00 srx with 42.5 pilots and had to move the fuel screws out to 2 turns yesterday to clean up a low end bog when punching the throttle. I'm going to move up to 45 pilots. Why would the engine require more fuel all of a sudden? Over the summer she got a top end, rings and gaskets. Case seals are good. Carbs are clean.

I had the same thing. I am out 2.75 on my mixture screws after rebuild too eliminate bog. I wonder off it will get better once the rings wear in. mine is a viper.

Pilots are partially clogged. Clean your tank and replace fuel filter. Debris is getting into fuel circuits as soon as you start pulling it over. Check filter hats while you are at it.

Great advice ;)! Doing mine again this season. !

I would have to say that stock settings are no longer acceptable with the shitty fuel these days, every body knows that fuels today are atleast 10% ethanol. I have heard some of our gurus saying to jet up a size or two to compensate for the ethanol blended fuels. Maybe? Just maybe?

I did this for safety, I'd rather burn a little more fuel than spend $1000 plus to put it back together after a burn down, I like to make power but I like to play it safe too.
