Fitting a larger track

I have an '85 SS440 and I am looking at a different track. I don't want to drop the coin on a brand new track with the sled being 21 years old and all and so I was looking at putting an OEM take off from a newer sled on and then it would be an upgrade also. Of course this would require a 121" track. So my question is: Is there anything involved to accomplish this besides moving the suspension back to take up the slack? And more specifically would i have to change the drive cogs if the track has the same drive pitch as the OEM (2.52)? Anything I should look out for when selecting a used track?
