I am interested in buying a helmet cam for my Son, Any thoughts as to which is nice and works good?
Contour 1080HD. Do a search for StuntCams in Michigan. I will try and find a link when I get to my laptop. There is also a GPS model that not only take top quality video, but tracks your route via gps

The Contour is what my Son mentioned. Al
A friend had a new gopro and switched after another friend showwed him the contour. The contour is less bulky, has easy to hear audible beeps so you know when its recording or not. It also has two lazers to help sight it in. The video quality is second to none and stores the vid on a micro sd. You also have the option of setting the recording quality from 760 to 1080hd, and several other options in between
I love my Contour GPS, exactly because of the tracking ability. Makes it easier to find new areas to ride. Contour also upgrades their software quite often, so make sure you have the newest software. I have had one of these a year, feel free to ask any questions.

When I bought the contour, I bought the waterproof case also. I have some sweet video of our family and friends snorkling and ZipLining in Mexico
Contour Roam
Best helmet cam on the market for the price, hands down.

gopro is better than contour. If you can get the hd hero2 then get it. If you notice on tv they use gopros 90% of the time. there are way more accessories and mounts for it. They are more durable and can shoot 10 11MP photos in a second. etc... compare the cameras features on their sites and there is a clear winner.

with the Contour you have to pay for extra stuff where the Go pro not, like a water proof case for example.
Not sure I buy that the GoPro is a clear winner. I see some bennies to the Gopro, like the external mic jack and the fact it will take hd pics. But its bulkyness is one deffinite downside for guys that go off trail though the trees(the contour is very compact and low profile). Im sure it takes great vids, I can attest to the Contours vid quality, which is nothing short of awesome.
I have heard that its not always easy knowing if the gopro is on or off, maybe thats changed with the newer Hero 2, hopefully someone will chime in that has had more experience. The Contour has audible beeps that are easy to hear, even in your helmet or under water.
Also the lazer guided sights on the Contour are great for being sure its pointing in the direction you want for video.
The new Contour Roam($199 US) is Waterproof, so one less accessory needed.
Check this site out, and decide for yourself , they carry both. Im sure either will work great.

Let's be real here, the image quality on the go pro and contours are pretty dang close to the same. One or the other will have to come out with something amazing to be a clear image winner.
It comes down to other variables than image quality.
Price, realistic accessories, waterproofing, etc.
Both have pretty much anything you could want, but the Contour Roam is the clear price point winner, and doesn't look ridiculous like a go pro.

Contour keeps on improving the image quality all the time. For me, the GPS makes the choice easy, you get GPS speed without a gps on your sled AND you can track where you have been. To my understanding, you can also get a readout from the contour gps in real time, as where you are if you have an android telephone.
