I have always used Yamalube with seemingly no problems except it really does stink. Is there a better alternitive? Suggestions perhaps? Thanks guys, Soc

I've been running Torco semi synthetic for about 6 years. Low smoke, seems alright. No major problems with sleds until bearing failure on crank on Tuesday. But that problem is not because of oil.

Sockeye,
Been running Torco SSO (full synthetic) for about 4 years. Price jumped from about $30/gal to $36/gal this year. Smells better and less smoke than Yamalube. Have also heard good things about Amsoil synthetic too, about the same price as Torco. Both are available at GoPro in Anchorage. I'm going to try some Blue Marble as soon as I burn off some of what I have. Blue Marble is available at a tire store on 88th st by Lake Otis (close to my house).

I haven't had to buy any yet this year , but last year you could take back an empty ,had to be a yamaha gallon jug to Anch Yamaha and they had would refill it(they carried it in bulk) for under 16.00, if I remember right. Which regularly sold for around 20.00. Definately cheaper,Soc
Still curious about other oils...

I don't know... I kinda like the smell of a two-stroke in the morning... reminds me of SNOW!!!!
I've been told to use only yamalube by my dealer... but there is an Amsoil customer outlet at the end of my street.... tempted to wander down there one of these days and check it out.

I am using the amsoil hp injector oil. I can run it my snowmobile and my four wheeler and in my sons little four wheeler. You should the interceptor amsoil oil if you have a machine with power-valves. The HP injector oil is 21 something a gallon where as the interceptor is 27.40 a gallon. Amsoil also sells a great low temp water resistant grease for your chassis lube needs. It is 4.70 a tube and is the best stuff I used so far. Hope this helps.

amsoil interceptor is the way to go with power valves, and for all you guys without the valves, they have a new oil out

My Dad and I have owned 21 Yamaha's over the years - never used anything but Yamalube in any of them - never had any motor issues - we have averaged about 4000 miles on each sled we have owned - been told by many dealers over the years, including Pat Hauck (for what it is worth) to stay with Yamalube - always load up on it at the Novi Show - usually $10-11 a gallon

Just picked up a gallon of the S-2 last night at Shawmut Hills... 17.97 a gallon... Not bad I though. Paid 20.99 at another place last week.

I've run Torco SSO, Yamalube, Maxima Tundra, Castrol, Amsoil (HP, not Interceptor), and Klotz. The best of the bunch for me was Amsoil. Slight to no smoke with warm engine, and smelled good. Surprisingly, Klotz smoked alot, but smell was good. The exhaust was much more black and carboned up with Klotz as well. Torco was pretty thick when cold, and had a slight burnt smell. Yamalube smelled bad and smoked quite a bit. Maxima and Castrol were alot like Yamalube.
