Went to check out one of the links for the Pro Action video and got hit with a virus that f&$!@!$ my whole computer. I believe it was one that you had to download the hardware to actually watch the video. Didn't Download it cause I didn't want the hassle. Next thing I know, firewall protection popping up, computer scan running, 60 Trojans later and system is screwed!! Pissed right now! Sometimes the Internet just sucks!
Wish I could get into my history to see which link it was, but there are only a couple in there. Writing this from my IPhone. Hopefully nobody else has this problem.....

yeah I have had those before..had to basically erase the harddrive and reload everything from scratch..but that is a scam virus..it wants you to purchase their stuff for a certain amount of money to clean up your system.I have been lucky to date now.It freezes the screen in a way that you cannot shut down or anything.A few times I got out of it.My stepson told me there is a way to counter it.I now have another e-mail when I also open up sites that I don't go on very often. My e-mail was compromised also and had to get a new one as it was sending out bad e-mails to all my contacts and vise versa.Ya computers can be the sh*ts sometimes.

This is a PC right? I had this happen and I went to system retore and had the computer go back before this happened and restore, I was able to get rid of it. If this si the one that Blue is talking about, do not pay, it IS a scam.

Hey guys, It was a link from our site ( did a search) section to another site with the video. One of the members had the link up. Wish I could remember which one It was(didn't write it down). I'll find out and let you know. Tried to do a system restore, didn't work. Gonna have a tech buddy of mine check I out asap. It was one of those "we've screwed you now buy our product and we'll clean it all up for you" deals. Yeah, right!!
Atleast I've still got my phone so I can get my totally yamaha fix. Atleast until I get to work that is.
Mr. Sled, as soon as I know which link it was you'll know.

Thank you!!

when it happened to me once..I tried to get to sysyem restore..it worked.Another time it happened..it lock all my buttons and couldn't get anywhere..so just started from scratch again..very frustrating...Now thus has not happened yet on my Toshiba laptop, lucky so far.

if you can figure out exactly what virus it is and find the propertys of it you may be able to go in and manually erase the corrupt registery entries, and other files it may have installed in various sections of the computer. the claim that your computer has a crap load of viruses is probably just part of the (i want your money scam) to scare you into giving them your info. it is probably in reality one single virus. i know there is a virus called antivirus 360 that sounds similar to what you have. it trys to make itself out to be the known and not fradulant norton antivirus 360. and trys to get you to enter your creditcard info. im not computer literate enought to know excatly what to do but like i sayed you can sometimes manually dispose of viruses.

Thanks for the advice guys. I appreciate it. Should be up and running soon.

I really wish it would snow. That would put me in a better mood

After re-tracing my steps about the Pro-Action video, I have determined that I had done a search for Pro Action video. Tried looking through YAMAHEADS posts and couldn't find it. I settled on djdarkmunk's link(s) and got hit with the virus. Hope this helps. My friend said it a Malware virus and really difficult to get rid of. Said he had to go in through the "back door" and was a really tough one. Hope this helps.

I have deleted the link in djdarkmunk's post. If someone finds the virus to be somewhere else, please contact one of the Moderators asap. Thanks FJ for bring this to our attention.

BEST to combat viruses... by a Mac. I have had Macs for 10 years or more and its been almost 15 years since I had a virus. The OS on a Mac is much more secure, than that crap Microsoft sells.

Download both Malwarebytes and SuperAntivirus, both free and run in safe mode for maximum results after updating. You can start in Safe Mode with Networking if necessary and update then scan. I will likely take several scans with more than one product to clean the system.

As for the MAC IOS its a matter of time when the creaters focus more on it you drop like flies. The last virus written for the MAC a few months back went viral took out everyone exposed to it. The user were getting caught like sheep lead to slaughter.

I have tried several anti virus softwares over the years.........free and NOT free. I have had the best luck with Trend Micro for the last three to four years so that is what I have been running since........knock on wood!!

Just a tip. If you ever come across one of the bugs on your screen. DO NOT x out of it. Cntrl, Alt, Delete and shut your computer down. As soon as you X out of their little program, thats what starts it downloading crap to your computer. My tech friend gave me that tip. Might be old news to some but it was new to me. Hope it helps someone.
