so, its the srx with the 8dn20's, 4.5 tip and heel, ywy, green secondary now at 80 twist, 8 tooth drivers and 1.75 track. AWESOME pull bottom end to mid range, then at top end bloooobbb. she loses it all and still stays at 7800 rpm. its especially bad when in deep snow...then it has no top end power at all. but even on a hard packed lake it just wont go past 8000 rpm, any suggestions? different springs? different twist? ive got a hauck "G" helix, which i THINK is 49/41. i just cant get it right

either change the helix wrap, helix or maybe your clutch is binding....Do you have your stock helix to try.Put the stock helix back on and see if you get back to the right rpm.If not then your clutch bushings may be binding..or take your parking brake off...lol

did you not drop your gear ratio for that track..what gears u running. It'll be like being in a car with standard and shifting from second into 4th gear.....takes a while to wind her up.

he's got 8 tooth drivers blue, so that dropped the gear all on its own. but knowing what you got for gears would certainly help people help you
are u sure u don't have a pull thru power valve cable ???if not secondary helix is to big

powervalve problem when it wont go over 8000rpm, pull them and check for pull thrus and then repair, then reset them.

23/39 gearing right now. i havent checked the power valves tho, that could very well be my answer, because i know someone else with this setup and they are having no issues. and no, my parking brake is not on lol

with that gearing, you should b over revving. You arwe definately not loading the motor & will prob want to go to a 37 tooth bottom gear.

from the reading i have just been doing on here, i found a same scenario, and it was a pulled through power valve. whats it take to fix one of these?

could be a broken cable or a pull thru, they arent that hard to take apart. Wait until its fixed, you'll think you changed sleds.

can i fix it myself tho? never done one before

a broken cable most likely but a pull thru requires either a new powervalve or a better option in my opinion would be to have them serviced by one of the members here. They are prone to pull thru's just by the way they are built, and a new one will fail again eventually. Also a good idea to do all 3 while your in there.

Going from no traction to dirt whilst spinning the track will do it.
Kinda like snapping a car axle while spinning a tire from ice to dry pavement.
Something had got to give.
Judicious use of the throttle in such conditions will help avoid such damage.

Mine snapped in about 2 feet of powder. Pain in the *** getting it home. Yami dealer said he has seen many of the SRX front axles snap. $100 for a new one, and $75 to press and set the drivers. Might as well replace all bearings and seals while you are at it. Go over skid as well while it's out.

never heard of snapping axles on SRX's before.

theres no dirt here in labrador, we have like 6 feet of snow already! i was in like 3 feet of snow playin on all the drifts. ive got my new shaft ordered already.
the reason its such a pain in the ***, is that 2 weeks ago I had everything apart to put my 8 tooth drivers and my new 1.75 track on. so all the bearings are replaced in chaincase, jackshaft, skid. so having had this all apart 2 weeks ago, just to do it again tomorrow SUCKS. but hey, stuff happens!
Ive heard of them snapping, but not right in the middle. A couple of the guys I ride with have had them snap right at the bottom gear

On the bright side, you will be much faster at removing/replacing the driveshaft this time around.
