Is there a fix for a bent crankshaft, besides buying another one on 01 sxr 700 triple. I didn't see much info or problems anywhere unless I am looking in the wrong places. It is the clutch side that the bearing went bad on so I am thinking that is the side that bent. I found this out after puting the new bearings on of course..... Thanks
I had a artic cat with a bent crank I took it to a machine shop my brother works at and he bent it back I sold it 2months after I had it back together not shure if it really worked but I never got a phone call ..lol
i wouldnt try to fix it. ittle just weaken it and make it prone to failure in the future just like metal fatigue when you bend it one way than bend it the other. did you buy it with a bent crank or did it bend after you owned it and rode? never really heard of this. just curious if there was mabey some kind of under lieing problem like a bearing going bad in the past on that end clutches sticking and putting undue stress etc. or mabey just a potty spot in the metal on that paticular crank, overheation. lots of possibiliys.Joeyb621 said:Is there a fix for a bent crankshaft, besides buying another one on 01 sxr 700 triple. i'd think you could just have the bent section replaced. are you sure it's bent or does it just need to be trued. I'd have a good crank shop look it over

the situation
I was whooping on a poolaris and it just died, rpms were up there ...weird I thought so checked plugs n wires ect no dice.. pulled to start and it was like the motor siezed at that point my pal on the poo towed me back and I have never heard the end of that... upon further inspection the crank seemed like it would turn about 3/4 revolution freely then get real tight and finally stop turning unless you manually wrestle with it by turning the clutch. Then I tore it down and found the two bad bearings and seal replaced those put it back in the case halfs to test fit and what do ya know still going about 3/4 rev then locking up. Case halves arent all jacked and missing chucks so I am at a loss Ideas comments questions I have put about 100 miles on sled since I bought it total miles on sled 2100 thought I was getting a good low milage sled

Find a good crank shop and have them check it out for you, They'll tell if it's worth fixing or not.
