I cleaned the carbs on my '03 SXviper. One of the carb boot clamps(carb to cylinder) striped so I got a new one from the dealer. The new one I got is slightly different then the old brass color ones. When the old style ones are tight, I can not move them. When the new style one is tight, I can move it. My concern is that it wont be a good seal causing an air leak.
Is this normal, and I'm just being paranoid or should I find another clamp?
Thanks Matt
New clamp part number 86M-13575-00
Old style part number 90460-56073-00

if you're not comfortable with the new one I've got plenty of the old ones kicking around and could send you one for the cost of the postage

I am guessing the dealer gave you the wrong one. They should be tight enough to not them turn.

I got thinking about it and the new clamp had a smaller spacer between the bands. I removed the spacer and that let me to tighten the clamp more. It is now tight and I can not move it on the boot. The spacer must be so it can be used on various models.
Staggs65 thank you for the offer of a clamp. The helpfulness of members on the site is awesome.
