Since we don't have any snow yet I was thinking about a couple more projects. One is replacing my worn down grips. I want to replace them with stock yamaha but I don't know how big a deal this is. Getting the old grips and heating elements off and installing the new ones. Any tips and or tricks for removal and or installation. Also, I see Yamaha has another heated grip that they say is somehow longer, but I'm not sure how that would change instalation? Any info would be appreciated. It better snow pretty quick or I'm gonna spend all my Christmas money on parts and everybody here's gonna get socks and underware, LOL!! Thanks Gil

if your replacing, simply cut the old grips off with a razor knife after removing the rivet. then clean the bars of the adhesive and install the new grips. i use the slow cure epoxy(not the 5min kind) as a new adhesive.
make sure you get new grips specific to your sled. the vipers have a higher wattage. i believe the new longer ones may be to encompass the 45* hooks found on some of the newer 4 strokes. the viper grips are longer than the grips for the pre- high output ignitions found on earlier pre-2000 sleds.
if you want to try and save the old grips, there are some tricks there but the success rate varies.

another way to get them off easy is to hook each grip up by itself to a battery they will get very hot so use some gloves, but once the rivet is out they will come right off.
