So im kind of in a bind last year I bought viper transfer rods and limiter straps to put in my 02 srx with viper shocks. However the shocks i got from a buddy who had them laying around from a viper just happened to actually be from an srx! So im debating if I should still just look for some viper shocks and be done with it, or if I found some sxr shocks could i use with my stock srx suspension or do I have to use the viper stuff with them, any suggestions?

sxr or any of them long tavel will do with your stock suspension. u dont need the transfer rods, the viper ones are longer but thats cause on a viper they mount farther back on the rail, there are 2 different holes there. so far from what ive seen the srx only has the one hole where the shorter ones go.
even in long travel kits u can buy u dont need the rods. pioneer performance website has good explenations of suspension packages

Thanx for the advice but I remember reading on here an being told that when putting in rear viper shocks the srx tranfer rods wont work, maybe someone could chime in?

I have been involved in rebuilding 3 SRX suspensions recently and all had long travel shocks installed. You can use the SXR shocks but they springs are a softer rate than the Viper shocks even though the bodies are the same length. For the transfer rods, you have a couple of options. If you use the long travel ones (Viper or SXR), you must use the rear hole that is kind of behind the rear wheel. You can use the SRX transfer rods but you must use the front hole. The newer rails have both holes but I think the older ones only had either the front holes or the rear holes. You can drill the additional holes if needed. Don't quote me but I think it was 1-7/16" apart (or maybe it was 1-7/8"). I can't remember.
Also, the 2000 & newer SRX's have the same length straps as the long travel sleds (Viper/SXR) as far as I can tell.

That is correct, any srx's I've seen only had front holes, viper and other newer models had both. Yours being an 02 it may have both also. If u do want to drill the other holes I can measure and confirm the distance between holes tomorrow. When u set up everything follow bethevipers setup instructions, it will help alot
