98 SRX700 , Need some ski's - I think ?
Hello members,
I was looking over my sled ( 98 SRX700 and noticed the right ski had excessive wear on the side ( see pictures ) . I ordered new Bergstrom triple carbide , thats what Scott said I need for my weight - 200 lbs. Should I replace the ski's due to this wear or just install the carbide and ride?
P.S. I remote monitor wind turbines Fri, Sat, and Sunday 14 hour days. Mon - Thursday off. Turbine are running good today, thats why I posting so much today.

huh, ive never personally seen skis wear out like that before. ususally the middles wear out first and double time when skaggs are neglected. did somebody hit something mabey and break a piece off?
I bought it used and never saw the damage. I should email the previous owner. I wonder if it will hurt anything to use them. Factory plastic ski's are only $200.andrew k said:huh, ive never personally seen skis wear out like that before. ususally the middles wear out first and double time when skaggs are neglected. did somebody hit something mabey and break a piece off?
i would think you would be ok using them. all that looks like really happened is you lost a little bit of buffer if ya rub sutton on that side. but the way it looks it shouldnt catch anything going forward.
just shave it off I had a pair do that same thing

All depends on how you want the sled to handle. Junk skis will be all over the trail, and won't turn in the corners for crap. If you replace them, find some aftermarket ones, yamaha skis suck.
what after market ski's do you recommend?ottawaair said:All depends on how you want the sled to handle. Junk skis will be all over the trail, and won't turn in the corners for crap. If you replace them, find some aftermarket ones, yamaha skis suck.

Some guys use kimpex arrows. Others use c&a skis. I use curves. All depends on your buget and riding style.

If the wear is only on 1 ski then it may be from loading it onto a 2 place trailer.. Both skiis from loading onto single place.. If you are off center too much you'll peel teh skiis.. (My brother did it to mine trying to be nice and load it on my single place alumimun)

I'm thinking it's exactly what tcdesignguy said. Two place trailer edge snagged and sheared that bit off. Ride as is. No worries at all.
Thanks everyone, I will just clean the edge up with the dremmel install new carbide and ride. Have a snowy one, Tim

I put a new set of Camoplast skis on my SRX700 last winter and love them. They are a little bit wider than the stock skis so they work better in fresh powder.
