BUMMER,So these biker dudes can have hogs so loud it shake the siding on my house, but I cannot have a nasty sounding sled? (whoever they are did it again.)

But f them anyways. Might have to just because.lol

Found info.mmmm

The test is done on the sled, below is the info on it. Last year in the UP they held a test day for those wondering. If you have a MBRP race can you will fail. Skinz super q you will fail. D&D barker will fail. Older DG brand will fail. The new BMP Powder series will fail. One's that are know to pass are: D&D trail, Skins ultra q, BMP full velocity. You can use a basic ear as well if you have your sled at 4000 rpm and you yell at your buddy and he can not hear you your sled is too loud. The DNR and law has said they will start to enforce.

Best thing I can tell ya is contact the law enforcement office to where you will be riding, ask if it is would be possible to have a the test snowmobile done test done on your snowmobile. Just say you bought the snowmobile and it has this non-stock exhaust can on it and you need to know if the sled passes the sound law of if you are in risk of getting a ticket.

The standard being used for the test is the SAE J2567. You can get to the actual document by going the sae page but you have to pay a fee to get the long version of the test. http://www.sae.org/t...ds/J2567_200401

The legal DB is 88DB.

The Test is to be performed:
The sound meter microphone is placed 4 feet above the ground, inline with the exhaust outlet/center point of multiple exhaust outlets, on the side of the snowmobile toward which the exhaust is directed, 4 meters distance from the snowmobile longitudinal centerline. The operator holds the brake during the test, starts and runs the engine up to normal operating temperature, then slowly opens the throttle until a steady 3,750 to 4,000 rpm is achieved for not less than 4 seconds. The test is immediately repeated and the two readings averaged.

Think I found vid with 1. not sure if it,s a tripple or twin. Sounds good anyways.

I hope you know that the Mbrp race can is loud and you will get a ticket in Michigan. They are stupid loud. Most of them i have seen on ebay are for sale because the seller states they got a ticket having it. Just giving you a heads up.

I can appreciate the double standard when it comes to inforcement of loud exhausts but those biker dudes don't rely on land owners for places to ride... like we do.

Had a neighbor down the street that liked to wind up his uncorked HD down the street at all hours. I loaded my XCR onto the trailer and pulled off the SLP can. Backed into his drive one morning and lit it up on the stand.

Even though I woke up him and his next door neighbor, he got the message and now idles out of the hood. I can still hear him two miles away...

...and his neighbor had had enough and thanked me.

No one said it was fair.

I had a mbrp race can and yes no doubt they are loud, after time i switched to a snostuff rumble pack which i think is a tad louder and i love it. As fas as getting a ticket in michigan i would say youd be ok ive driven past many DNR officers on the trail and they just look and nod.

Surprisingly, his neighbor came out of the house (in his slippers) laughing.
NOW thats funny.... I know how the neighbor thing works, I let one of the neighbors have it and I had the whole cox's army behind me. It only takes one to realign the rest, unless they are "hard core biker types" that go to the clubhouse and hang... We have a group of "bikers" called the Vigilantes and they fly down the street, can't wait until one of them eats the quarter panel on my truck...

these look to fit?
E-mail the dude from C/L. they are mostlikely 97-up. you should be able to call SLP and get jetting and clutching specs. Don't know how well the DG's work... Had their dirtbike pipes years ago - no complaints.

It's been my experience that the hard core, color wearing riders are more considerate than the weekend warriors. Growing up South of 8 mile we had a high ranking V living next to us. Super considerate and all around nice guy that helped my mom keep me in line after pops left. Never really knew what he did for a living ;>)

All three of us neighbors have become good friends and still laugh about the morning I rattled thier windows.

Nothing against bikers... Like you said mostlikely the w/end warrior type (pretty rough looking)... I have worked with color wearing individuals and when at work they don't want you to really know what orginization they belong and are like you say mild mannered and polite, then there are the want to party all of the time type bikers - smack talking and pretty lit all of the time... The motorcycle is brings the commoraderie to those types as the sleds are what bring us types together. Don't get me wrong I like bikes too! :-)

He just got back with me. They came off a 96.prob will not fit?
cheers

l know for sure 96 will not work on a 97 ( made that mistake meself), Y pipe is different. l dont know if the 96 y pipe will bolt onto a 97 mill.

Bikers, whatever, they can man up and give my hog a whirl ;)

Not as loud as most hogs, probably not that far apart on speed and acceleration though. Never been able to look at bikers the same since a certain South PArk episode LMFO
