im going over my freinds 01 srx 700 and it has a orange liner inside the intake boot that is coming apart just on mag side only... now should he order a new boot or just rip out the old liner and put it back on??? and what would cause this im thinking the ethanel but im not shure
o yea one more thing there has been a part number change on these and im not shure if these are the new part # or the old one because i seen alot of them without the orange liner
ya, the rubber breaks down and peels then your engine eats it for a snack, just replace the boot. The new ones dont have the orange like you said.

On mine the black coating is peeling away to reveal orange. I can wipe off the black, but not the orange. They have been like this since 2008 and I haven't had any problems. I just remove what is loose.
