1999 srx700. Makes a loud knocking rattle at idle. When I turn the primary by hand it pops a little about every inch I turn it.
sounds like the rod bearing on the crank.
on the optimistic side, could be the bolts holding the catch for the recoil attached to the flywheel have came loose.
I went back out and turned it by hand, seems like it could be the recoil catch. I did replace the stator last year, so hopefully it is that. I'll go tear into it and see. thanks for the replies guys, always great advice around here
flywheel nut came loose. kicking myself for not torquing it to the right setting. I think i put it at 50ft lbs, after searching i see it should be 80. Don't guess like I did!

i use blue loctite and a few "blips" from the impact and never had a issue.
