need a lesson on helixes, which of the following helixes would provide the best top end on the lake in a pretty much stock 02 SRX,I have a heavy hitter setup in the primary and the team secondary.I have all these helix angles.trying to set up myself and my brother in law for top speed runs.
58-44-46
58-42-46
50-40-F
48-38-F
54-38-46
54-40-46
42-STRAIGHT
46-STRAIGHT
sled pulls crazy hard up to 100 then will slowly pulls up to 120 on speedo, this is with the 54-38-46 installed.thanks-Harvey

Well out of the ones you have listed there, the 48/38, then the 50/40, the lower the helix number in the finish the better its gonna clamp the belt and provide more top end, but it will also have the engine climb rpm on the top, so if your happy with how it pulls up to 100mph, I would keep the first start number you have then use a smaller finish angle, this keeps the engine revving up evenly with the load being applied by shifting the clutch faster. So in short a 54/38 would be what you want. If your going to run with what you have, use the 48/38(will not be as fast up to 100mph, but more up top) or the 50/40 (once again slower upshift but more topend). Just remeber the smaller the finish the more tip weight your gonna need(which is a good thing), On your current helix, its the 46 finish angle thats putting the brakes on topend, if it was lower it would keep on pulling. It takes more power to keep pulling that 46 finish............

so thats what that 46 is on the helixes?wondered why they had 3 numbers on some of them.so I should buy a 54-38-F if I like the way it pulls now?Need some more snow to do some testing.thanks-Harvey

I was just reading up on the helixes and it says that the .46 after the helix angles means the distance traveled between the first angle and second angle.so should I purchase the 54/38 F?thanks-Harvey

use part number 420520, twin trax helix with 54/34, and 54/36 angles in it, remember you may need more tip weight. What color spring do you have in the secondary now?

I believe its red with dark blue on it.I will go out and check after dinner and also tell you what other springs I have.thanks-Harvey

yep,red with dark blue stripe is in it now,the others I have are-
red with black stripe
red with grey stripe
black with red stripe
thanks-Harvey

your red/blue is 140-200, try the red/grey its a 125-175, it might not be quite as strong on the take off but will have higher top speed. try it, it might work good on the take off too, you will have to be the guinea pig.

lol,no problem being the quinea pig,one other question, you know I am trying to run big top end, should I go for the 9830 with 144 down the middle or camo has a 9843 .75 track about the same weight as the 9830,turk suggested an 8EK stock viper track ran backwards,he said it was just like the stock srx track but harder lugs and lighter weight.I also need to be able to go on an occational trail ride with the kids.thanks for the help-Harvey

check the weights on the camo tracks, and the viper track, use the lightest one with 144 in middle belt only, it makes a big differance in top speed, rotating weight is a big issue in this dept. I have always turned the stock track around and run them backwards, the srx and viper .92 tracks bite well like this. Ya know another 14-16hp wouldnt hurt either........LOL!!!

ya I know the horsepower would help,I wish I had sent you my stuff to do but I was worried it was to close to riding season, way the weathers been I would have been safe to send you everything.thanks-Harvey
