Hey guys, I picked up a studded 1.25" track for my 98' srx for a really great deal. I've searched some of the threads on this topic and i'm getting some conflicting information. I'm currently running 9 tooth drivers and the sled has tunnel protectors under the seat(factory?). Will I be able to run this track with my current configuration or will it destroy my heat exchangers? According to the threads i've looked at, guys are having varying results. I am also running a viper rear skid for the additional travel. I'm not sure if that is an issue or not. Any help here would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

There are people on here with 1in. tracks studded on a srx and the studs are hitting the heat exchangers. Also some that are running 1.25in. studded tracks on vipers have went to the 8tooth drivers and still have problems with studs hitting the exchangers. Some people have problems running them and others don't. I am one of those people that have a 03 viper and a 02 vmax running 1.25in tracks studded with the 9tooth drivers. I have had no problems with both sleds. No studs hitting the heat exchangers at all. I just don't under stand way some sleds are fine and others have problems. Just doesn't make any sense.

if you run your track loose it will balloon at high speed and hit....

if you want to run that track you will need to remove the studs or do as the others mentioned so that you can.
also the protectors were not factory on the 98's.

Throw in some 8 tooth drivers and you'll be good to go.
Also, remember there are Tunnel protectors,,,and Heat Exchange protectors. Be sure to have both when running studs.
Personally, I ran a Ripsaw 1 1/4 studded without any issues on my viper with 9 tooth drivers. but when I switched to a 1 1/4 Predater, I didnt have the same luck. The studs nicked my rear exchanger, so I added material to both front and rear protectors and the track ripped the front protectors off.
Keep in mind, the studs I ran only cleared the lugs by slightly under 1/4". I mainly ran them for safety in stopping.
Switch to 8 tooth when you switch out the track, It will be worth it.

Does anyone know where I can get my hands on a set of 8 tooth drivers and some heat exchanger protectors? I'm starting to think i'd be better off finding a 3/4" or 1" track instead.
