i am currently looking at a 2006 phazer 500 short track have 2600 mile and is 3400 bucks has 96 studs in the track. are these nice little sleds, do they have enough power to carry their own weight? i want somthing a little more dependable for long days of riding then my 600 twin(4200 miles and gets about 8mpg). ive heard the phazer motor go along way as for reliability and maintenance. also if some of you have read my recent post you will no i love cat walking and playing with the skis in the air are phazers any good at it or do i need to mod my suspension like i did on my vmax? i have never ridden a 4stoke snowmobile and hardly ever ridden a 4 stroke atv or dirtbike this would be the first 4 stroke ive ever owned because i never like the power curve the valve clappers have.

Get the Phazer and bolt in a turbo. You can "wheelie" all day long.
Yamaha 4strokes are very relaible. I have the Attak and the Vector. Both excellent trail machines. Never drove a Phazer but they look like fun.

Pros: No adding oil, no worring about a burn down due to poor fuel, good gas mileage, more of a rider forward position
Cons: Heavy

07 was the first year for a 4 stroke Phazer. The Id tag will read manufactured date 2006, but it would be an 07 model

that must be what the guy ment when he made the ad. if the suspension isnt strong then it isnt for me i guess because i do a little bit of jumping nothing big but some decent size drifts on the bay send you a couple feet in the air.

Unless you're a tub the suspension will be just fine. The tunnel buckeling bs is just that bs. If you come off a jump and land it straight down on it's tail OK. You're gonna wreck stuff. You would on any sled but those Phazers will take a ton and give it right back with a smile. I've ridden them. They are a ball. Light, nimble, quick. Rough trails and playin in the ditch is a hoot on one. Real stingy on fuel.

Downfalls (for me) ugly, sound like schnitt (4 stroke twins never did it for me) and short legs. Top speed is under 90mph but it gets there in good order. Not my style of sled but I won't knock someone who likes one. They are fun. Give me one with a turbo and I would be real happy with it. Wouldn't give up my RX1 or my Vmax-4 for one but would be happy to have one in the stable.

I heard many cases of the 07 models suspension failing actually. shouldnt cost to much to upgrade it if it does break though. power wise you can put it this way... a snowpro 500 has 88hp and the phazer has 83? but its got a ton of torque. If you seen what jimmy blaze did on it you will know that it is quite a capable sled. As for Wheelieing that stock 14" by 1" lug doesn't give much in the grip department...

Phazers are built to be beat by guys who want a sled to beat.

I'm sure there have been cases of busted Phazers out there. Most are ridden much harder than many other sleds could handle.

Ride em like a normal sled and they will last as long as any other.(or longer)

I believe the 07 had a breaking shock mount issue, but there was an update to fix it. Like opsled said, the Phazer is a riot for the ditch bangers, its not a drag sled for sure!

the way you describe the sled makes me want one a little more i have my vmax clutched and gear to my liking it doesnt go to much over 75mph but it holds its own on the drifts and ditches i play in the drifts all day with my vmax and not get stuck while my cuzin is constantly sinking his zr i thinks its because the clutches shift to fast and it loses power. but like stated before i want something that i can throw around in the snow somthing i can tip on its side and carve or catwalk it in drifts and deep snow.

you mean yamiwalk it ,,not catwalk.....lol
sorry lol i used to be an arctic cat rider until i realized how unreliable they are and how much better yamahas handle and perform

Suspension will be better than than a stock SRX and the torque is decent. If you get one, I would think a turbo would be in your future.

I owned a 2007 Phazer and had a great time on it. 07's had a lot of issues if you can I would suggest looking for a 08 or newer. Great in the bumps and awesome torque. Top speed about 80 mph. I sold it and bought a very low mile 2004 Warrior. Where I ride I needed more top speed!!! I will but another one in the furture when my son is old enough.
