As stated track is very, very loose but the adjusters at the back of the rails are out all the way. There is more tightening the track with that method. The transfer rods have been removed, and I'm wondering if that is causing the problem. I'm helping out a friend and this is the second track he has tried with the same results. This is on a 1996 vmax 600 xt. Any help will be appreciated.

Check for yourselves how the suspension reacts with the transfer rods removed. Compress the suspension with the front lifted, similar to doing a "wheelie". Note how the rear suspension only compresses up and down, also note how much slop you now have with the track tension. With the rods installed, the rear skid actually moves up and down as well as back, thus keeping proper tension on the track. I ordered two of the enhancment kits, once I saw what was going to happen with our tracks, I quickly reinstalled the transfer rods. Not worth the potential damage to the tracks. Al

I'd put them back in, but it was purchased with them removed and they didn't come with the sled. So now I'm looking for everything to re-install them. Can anyone tell me what years would work on a 96? Thanks again for the help.

OK Guys, thought I was all set but..... Now I'm wondering how many different legnth rods were made?? I put some back in and the back half of the skid binds now. All this is with the rear shock removed. I thought the shock was junk and stuck in position but that is not the case. Any help would be great, I'm ready to cut and tap the rods so I have some adjustment.

Yes there is differant lenths and differant rear mounting hole locations on the rails.Adjustable and non.If they are to long you could cut the tops and weld back to the bushing.Easy way would be move the rear hole back untill the gap improves...but i am only qessing at what you have now.
