I have a '99 SX 600 that I long traveled using revalved Viper shocks. I took the upper front shock mounts out and put in the bulk head bushing to mount the upper end of the Viper shocks. I was told I can flip the stock upper brackets upside down and swap sides and then remount the Viper shocks to the stock brackets for added ground clearance. If I do this how does it affect the handling? I would assume that it will also stand the shocks up a little more making them more perpendicular to the ground so would the added angle and resultant input force from a bump require me to have the shocks revalved again? They may be due anyway as I have (5)+ seasons on these shocks from their last rebuild. I am assuming i will have to reset the toe of the ski's as well - any other things I will have to look out for if I do this?

Why would you want to use the stock shock bracket? Your stock shocks dont have a clevis upper mount do they??
I believe the bracket flip and swap is for srx's when using stock shocks and adding rear Viper shocks

that's what I thought but a guy I know was confident that it could be done. I was wondering if there was some other part that would make the shock and bracket work together because they sure as heck can't they way they are made.

Doing that will screw up the geometry, thats why when viper shocks are installed you need the longer radius rodsto help bring the shock angle back. Or am I wrong??

I think you are getting two things mixed up. You can turn the the brackets around and upside down on an SRX and get more travel. The SX's you remove the brackets and use the Viper shocks to the frame. The SX has longer radius rods and A wider stance which alows you to do this without changing the rods. You will however have to readjust the radius rods to get the camber right on the trailing arms and also gets your skis sitting flat on the ground. Easily done. Soc

Mills, maybe what your friend is referring to is cutting the shock brackets off of the trailing arms, flipping them around and rewelding them?
