1.) ground wire, either corroded or not connected, go over wire harness.
2.) yes, you will have to adjust the cable when you replace it, its very easy to do, lots of information on this site to show you how to do it. You might as well do all 3 after you clean all 3 valves, be good for a while then.

now my tac and gas gauge doesn't work, does that have anything to do with the kill switch and ignition

Sounds like you have a wire harness rub through issue. Was pretty common on the srx sleds. It runs under the motor and chafes causing various issues. There's one other common spot that I can't remember off hand. Time to pull the harness and go over all the wires

is there a way i can get to the harness under the egine were it usually rubs through?

Unplug the connectors for the hood, tie a string to it and then pull it through from the recoil side. There are a couple of bendy clips that you will have to release. Fix the harness issues and then pull it back through with the string. That way you don't have to pull the motor. Most cover it with tubing or something to prevent the issue from happening again. There are more detailed versions on here if you search for them, but that's the short version.

I pulled the harness using the string method, i found a green and black wire that were bare in one spot, i found theses before pulling it all the way through so it was still all connected, i taped them up, started it up, light worked like usual, but but tac and gas gauge didnt work and the speedo light also did not work, and still no kill switch and key...........so i pulled the harness all the way through and there were no more bare wires....?? Help

the wire harness the runs under the engine(connects to the tac and speedo), i pulled the one completely out, what one are you talking about?
the other one under the steering pad that goes down.......if its a 98 kill switch got 2 wire ...one black/white and the other one chocolate that goes to coils ...the black and white goes to the cdi in the connector black with 4 wire in it ...do u know how to use a ohmmeter to check if the are not broke ???..check from kill switch both wire and come back ....if u can kill the engine with the key then the b/w is broke going into the cdi or broke going on chocolate going to ground ....key and kill switch run on one of the same wire b/w

i will try, but as of now i cant kill the engine with the key or kill switch.
then check the b/w that goes to the cdi .......make sure its not broke and make sure ground are good at the cdi ..both switch have a ground to the frame but they are not the same wire .. make sure ground are good maybe the are ground at same place ......ohmmeter will let u know if ground are good to the frameschwanysrx700 said:i will try, but as of now i cant kill the engine with the key or kill switch.
