I found a '98 SRX 700 that I want to purchase. Now I have read that they had a crank issue on the 98's. If I ahve the VIN number from the guy, what is the best way to find out if the crank has been fixed? Do I have to go through a dealer?
Only real way to tell is if you tear it apart and physically look.
Yes, dealer should have it on record. If I remember correctly it was only the first couple hundred off the line that had issues. I had my crank redone just to be sure, all covered by warranty. Dealer said crank was good when they checked it, but before I took it in, my finger tips were numb after 50 miles.

Does it have to be the dealer the sled was bought from?
