I think I may have forgotten a couple of washers when I put my suspension back into my 99 srx700. Is there supposed to be a little side to side freeplay in the large black idler wheels up in the tunnel? The small ones in front of that also have some freeplay. I'm worried about the bearing spinning on the shaft.
thanks in advance.

I have noticed on some of mine that after the bearing is installed and the c-clip is installed..there is some space between the two.and possibly the bearing could move sideways a bit.I just took some bearing seals of some old bearings, flattened them with a hammer and placed against the bearing and c-clip to make up the slack..worked fined and less wheel movement on the bearing

I see what you mean, I have it apart now. I was missing two washers in the rear, which adding them will take up the slack back there. But the front has everything that the schematic says but is sloppy just like yours.
The bearing measures 20.04mm ID and the shaft measures 19.85. Not sure if this is just how they come from the factory or if a bearing has spun it down. I'm almost thinking its how they come, because its tapered and as you get to 1" from the end of the shaft its 19.75- past the circlip where the bearing isn't touching the shaft.
I don't like the idea of that much freeplay. It seems as though the bearing spins on the shaft easier than the bearing spins in the race. I don't think any side pressure via washers can be applied because circlips are'nt designed to handle it.
I thought of putting a small layer of jb weld on the shaft to build it up. I don't know though. Anyone have any thoughts?

Just stake it with a center punch and slide the wheel on. That will make it tighter.
