can I put electric start from a 1997-2001 v-max on a 1997 600 sx with just the start system or is a big deal or not possable at all I thought it would be just plug and play except to put the gear on the clutch

I was wondering the same thing. I need electric start and reverse for health reasons. I have an 02 viper ER, but would like to pick up a couple more sleds and if I could add it to other yamahas it would broaden my search for shopping.

Im pretty sure all proaction e starts are interchangeable. The only difference is the length of the starter wire harness. For the sx modles the harness was much shorter. Elizabeths e start was off a sx and i just had to extend the red lead to make it back to the battery. Also the connection to the e start plug from the key is also different but the wires are all the same. Just a matter of cutting the ends off and hardwiring. I went into detail on this in my working log on elizbeths sled. So i would say yes on adding any 97 - To current e start to any sled. This goes for reverse also, just have to watch your gears, old 15 wide vs new 13 wide and gearing ratio.

I put e start on my old 00 sxr from a 98 xtc. Like Chris said, the wiring will be a tad different but if you look at where the wires connect and place them on the same spots when hardwiring you're golden. Its pretty straightforward.
