I have a 2002 vmax that has a bad over rev to 9100. It is stock. What do I have to do to the rivets or springs to slow this down? I also have lost 20kph topend.

I had same problem in my 600 vmx. I hunted problem for two weeks, changed weights and everything. Secondary sheaves bushes (at helix and other plate) were worn so it didnt let belt go deep enough and that why belt was too low at clutcth and engine overrev. How much is you sled driven.

Install a new belt; that will bring rpm,s down a lot. See what rpm,s are after the belt change; no sense to add weight till you know what rpm,s are at. Worn belts can really raise rpm,s.

Run a 4.5 gram rivet in the inner & outer holes in the weights. That will bring rpm,s down a bunch.

Whats the normal max rev on a 2000 SXr 700? I'm hitting 8900. I've just installed tripple aaens. The aaen instructions included a dyno chart that shows 700 motor with pipes reving up to 9500 RPM. Seems kind of high?
