RE: EGT numbers
Hey guys, i have been noticing my EGT is reading about 1200 degrees at about 1/3rd throttle all the way up to full throttle is only 1250 is this ok? what's the max it should be at top speed and midrange, I thought it should run cooler right up to top speed? is this wrong?? Also how far should the sensor be in the exhaust pipe from the Piston?? I was told 100mm, that's too close isn't it??? mine is about 8" now

You need to look at your wash and compare it with your exhaust temps. But by the sounds of it your needles are too lean or your mains are too rich. Your probe placement is fine, I guess it is more of a personal preference. EGT lists a bunch of different specs for probe placement..........SRXtreme

so what should the temps be at mid range and full throttle? I already leaned out my mains from 170's to 167.5's and have my needle clips set one below middle already.

I run my mids at around 1000 which is borderline. My peak temps are middle high 1200's I do not recall my burndown temps though. But irregardless of my temps you need to jet your sled from piston wash first then see where your temps are and set your limits on your gauge to that...............SRXtreme

SRXtreme, hey my 3/4 throttle temps where running higher than my wot, so I took the needles from 3 to 3.5. It fixed #1 but made #2 & 3 worse. You got any ideas whats up. It is right around that 7000 rpm range. At 8450 it runs right around 1100 to 1150, but at 7000 it is up to and above 1250. any help would be great. Thanks Maxdlx
