Few weeks ago I asked about the reason some of the 97 sx's recoil let loose and blew the cases apart. Well, I found the ring that bolts to the flywheel had cracks on 2 sides by the bolts. I also now found the bolts that hold it to the flywheel may be coming loose. Reason I say this is, normally these bolts are extremely tight on any other sled. I got all setup to fight with these bolts tonite, but, much to my surprise they came right out. Just want others to be aware of this problem on the SX's while it's still an easyvfix. I bought a new ring from babittsonline for 65.00. I have seen 2 of these motors basically explode the case from this.

I use loctite (blue color, medium strength, no. 242) on almost every bolt and screw on my sleds and bikes. Lockwashers are far inferior to the holding power of the Loctite. The combination of torquing fasteners to the factory specs and loctite is teh way to go. I am sure the use of loctite has saved me from some long lonely walks on the trail.
