XTC battery install

I've got a '97 XTC, at least that's what is once was. It's been long tracked and now has a Viper tunnel, anyway I will need to install a battery in this thing and am wondering if it's already wired for it and if it has a rectifier, or if I have to install one. I've found a couple pigtails hanging in engine compartment that look like they may be leads for a battery. Does anyone know if I can just install a battery or will I need to wire it for one? also, are the stators in the XTC models any stronger than a mountain sled?

Not sure what your trying to do.I thought the XTC came with electric start and reverse as standard but its been along time.If you have a starter on your sled and ring gear on clutch and battery cables hanging near the chaincase cover.I'd say the battery was just taken out.You should also see some relays on backside of footwell.And hopefully the battery tray.But if someone was trying to get rid of the electric start stuff.Who knows what was removed.Far as the stator that is the same.
 
My sleds got reverse, not electric start though. There is two boxes on the right stirrup, look like regulator and rectifier and 2 wires, pink and black, small gauge about 18 or so. Look like they could be batt. leads. I don't think this machine had an electric start or battery, there's no tray and no sign of a starter, no ring gear on the clutch, or relay ect. I want to install a battery to run an electric fuel pump off. Need a wiring diagram to find out if I already have battery leads.
 
The battery leads will be a lot heavier gauge like than 18, like 8 or something like that. The positive runs directly to the starter and the negative attaches to the engine somewhere. Does your machine have a starter on it? It should have come with one from the factory.
 
Not sure what those are for but they are not battery cables.You would need to get stuff to have a battery in there that would be charged by sled.You said you want it for a fuel pump which i dont understand the use of it on a sled ?

Haven't checked this thread in a very long time. I'm planning on running an electric fuel pump for a turbo setup.
