How to bring rpms down on 99 600v-max

A friend of mine has a 99 600 deluexe and it way over revs up 9500. The wieghts are 8dg-00 .are these good for this sled? the sled is completly stock with 20697 kms. Any clutching sugestions to bring the rpm down .This high reving cant be good for this sled.He only does trail rideing but likes to open her up on the straightaways.

He probably has a few things going on
1 centre to centre & alignment is off
2 Using an older belt will raise rpm,s

The 8dg,s are stock weights & are fine for trail riding. You must install heavier rivets to bring rpm,s down.
