just installed an aftermarket stator on my brother inlaws attak with no success ohm's reading where too low ended going back to OEM.... wated 300$ on aftermarket no supplier won't credit him for the stator they claim there's nothing wrong with it....The sled would not start with the aftermarket stator...slapped the OEM one in and fired right up....I think for electrical OEM is the way to go!!!!

the sxviper no spark... was a very interesting thread phil. i think all of us who were following it learned something. info like this is what makes this site so great!!!

I actually bought a pickup coil from RM Stator after troubleshooting my electrical problem. Before putting the pickup coil on we couldnt get any fire just like philsxviper. Ended up ptting the aftermarket pickup coil on and it will either idle or if you keep the rpms above 2500 it will run fine just like philsxviper did. I am guessing i need to go with an oem stator also. Just wish Yamaha had the pickup coil seperate because I think a lot of the times the stator may still be good and the pickup coil burns out. If anyone has an oem pickup coil that ohms out, I'm looking to buy one. Thanks

Can someone tell me what they (pickup and stator) should test out at. Im putting a used pair in my dads viper and it would probably be a good idea to test them first...

Totally unrelated subject but it is electrical and similar kinda. My son is 3.5 years old and loves Thomas the Train so we bought him a battery powered crane that is Thomas the Train for christmas. He opened it up christmas morning and we put Rayovac AA batteries in it and nothing it didn't work. My wife took it back to the store on monday and exchanged it. Brought it home and put Rayovac batteries in it and it didn't work. She called me and asked me what to do so I told her to exchange it again and I would look at it when I got home. I opened the 3rd new one and put Rayovac batteries in it and nothing it didn't work. I called the company that makes the toy and asked them what to do and they asked me what kinda batteries I was using so I told them Rayovac. They told me that they have problems with this toy working on Rayovac batteries and to try Duracell or Energizer so we bought different batteries and put them in and sure enough the fricken thing worked perfect.
My point of this is that electrical sh*t can be a fricken nightmare!!

The ohm test dont always tell the truth because all (oem new, used and new rm stator) was in the spec but only the oem new was realy good .
