Is it best to shift @ Max HP 8500rpm or Max Torque 8200rpm on 98 SRX 700 for ice drags? Currently pulling 61 grams Heavy Hitter @ 84-8500rpm. Thinking about adding weight to bring it down to 8200rpm and chutch it on the torque side of the curve? Any thoughts?

My service manual states 8500?
all people says 8300 on 98-99
clutch the 98-99 sleds for 8150-8200 so she keeps pullin all the way out the end
I had my heavy hitters at 63-64 grams and it was spot on at 8200-8300. It was fast.

Thanks for the great input!
I just can’t believe the cam weight this thing pulls for being pretty much stock other than exhaust can, Boyesen power reeds & cold air intake. I may have to get carbide washers to get there! I think 64 grams is max with HHY48 kit (48 grams base wt). They do love to grunt!

Can you tell me the weight you ran in each location to get the 64 grams?
Thanks
