Have a 1990 Phazer II - previous owner added a "mystery part" - a fitting on top of each carb with a small fuel line leading to the carb bowl - doesn't show on any of the OEM info.
Any ideas on what it is / does?

Sounds like a dial-a-jet or a power-jet.

Exactly!!!! Hit the nail on the head. Figured that it was something along that line. May explain the tendancy to stall at idle ... that or the fact that the line on one of the bowls was split .....
