I am looking for some input. Started tuning in my now 700 redhead today that has been ported. The carbs that are on it are from a srx600. I didn't think about it at the time but I may need to change the needle jet and needle to what an sx700 used stock to get this thing dialed in. It currently has 8ch-14141-52-00 needle jets and 152-14116-A3-00 needles.
Stock needle jets are 89A-14141-54-00 for cyl2&3, 89A-14141-58-00 for cyl1. Then 275-14116-F1-00 needles for all three.
Do you think I should try and tune it in with the srx needle jets and needles or find some stock ones for a sx700? Does anyone know if I will run into issues with the srx600 hardware?

My opinion...sell swap the 600 carbs. If they are stock 600 carbs they are 31mm, stock 700 red head or srx are 33mm. If its ported your gonna want more flow. Pipes? can? Anything done with clucthing? I am sure the 31s would be fine with enough jacking around with them. I myself would skip alot of the "frankensteining" and get some 33s! Tech pages have all info on stock specs for mains, pilots, jets and etc.

Its the srx600 carbs and they are the 33mm bores. It just has different profile needles in them as well as different needle jets. I think it is running rich at 3/8 throttle and good at 5/8 throttle, making me think I should go with a stock profile for a 700.

Sorry, my bad, Missed the "r" in there! Stock sx profile would be a good place to start. How wild or mild is the porting? May want to tweek it to match porting.

Mild-Medium trail port. I think I am going to end up looking around for some 700sx needles jets and needles.
