Just got a 2000 srx 700 for christmas from the wife. I'm a lucky guy I know.
Any ways took it out for the first time, and ran it up and down hay field with a couple of inches of snow. At a idle it is a little inconsistent up and down, and bogging out of the hole. Any thing above 4500 rpm and it is fine. Then when you let off after a pass it goes into a rough idle and all most stalling.
I put new gas in it and new plugs, and the same thing. The guy that had it before said he just put new reeds in it. Compression is fine, and it starts fine.
Could this be a power valve issue. Last sled was a 97 sx 700 8 years ago so dont know much about the power valves yet. Can any one please help?

Sounds like a carb cleaning is in order. Pilots are probably plugged up.
x2, clean the carbs!

Sounds like the pilots are dirty.

If you are nervous to try clean your carbs, first I would try adding Sea Foam to the fuel and drive it for 20 minutes. That is amazing stuff.

While its possible that this may work it might not be the best idea as dirty carbs/plugged jets can cause lean conditions and possible engine damage. By the time the carbs 'work themselves' clean the damage may be done. I would recommend checking around on this site as there is a tonne of information on how to properly clean carbs. Just my 2cents!

I'm not worried about cleaning the carbs myself, just not much experience with the power valves yet. I will clean them this weekend and let you know. Thanks for the advice and hopefully a headache!

X2 on both! Clean the carbs the right way and if you want to put a lil sea foam in there to keep them clean than so be it. There is nothing, and I will repeat that NOTHING that will clean a plugged pilot other than taking them off and cleaning them. I dont even try to start sled in the fall with out cleaning carbs. Once or twice I was amazed and pilots were clear. Even if theres only a lil of that white crap in the pilots do you really want to knock it loose and run it threw the motor? Where you at in MI?

Took the carbs off and cleaned found nothing wrong with them. Took the power valves a part and found 1 broke 1 half pulled thru and 1 starting too. Would this have been my problem to start with.
Did you pull the pilot jets out and blow air thru all of the ports? You should be able to see thru the jets also.

Pilots were good and clean i couldn not fine anything wrong with any of the carps. Just the pulled through power valve on number two. Also I took the pipes off and number two was full gas. What would have caused that.
I would clean the carbs and power valves every season the sled will run great.the pilot jets gum up if it sits for to long.
If the pipes were full of gas u was ridding on a dead cylinder fouled plug.try new plugs it's very bad to run with plug fouling washes the crank with gas and boom meltdown.
