I bought an 02 viper from a guy and he used 89 octane which is fine with me, but when I ride to remote places, they do not have 89 octane and the sled runs terrible on 87.... Is there any way to switch back to 87 octane and have the sled run good or am I stuck with 89?

Thanks

YOUR ASKING FOR TROUBLE. LIKE I TOLD THE LAST GUY THAT WANTS TO RUN 87, ITS PLAIN CRAZY. YOU SHOULD BE GOING UP NOT DOWN. 3:16 (yammie tony)

So run 89 even though there may not be any available on some trips? So just bring octane boost or something?

87 TODAY (if its 87) IS GREAT FOR THINGS LIKE LAWN MOWER, WEED EATER, SNO-BLOWER, MAYBE, YOUR CAR. THAT GAS IS JUNK. NO WAY WOULD I USE THAT IN ANY SNOWMOBILE LET ALONE A TWO STROKE YAMMIE TRIPLE. BUY THE BEST GAS YOU CAN FIND, IF YA NEED TO TAKE DRY/ GAS WITH YA AND OCTANE BOOSTER. THAT AREA BEHIND YOUR SEAT IS PRETTY BIG. 3:16 (yammie tony)

Personal preference. Running low octane greatly increases chances of burn down, detonation, or straight up BLOWING UP! (you said yourself runs like on 87) I myself wont put anything less than 93 in mysleds, Even my daughters beater polaris that has sticker recomending 88! Guys out there are spending good money after bad on horsepower. If 87 is all thats available then yes I would be putting booster in it.
