MMAX Front end Lift?

I have an 02 MMAX 700 and it seems like the front end sits really low. The shocks are gas KYB's I believe? The ride is good, but the snow just flys up in my face in the fluff, I know this is good to have that much snow, but 6 inches of fresh fluff on a fresh trail covers me! I would like a little higher stance in the front. I've read you can use short track shocks on the front to get a little lift, but are there any other remedies? Thanks, from a snow covered Yooper!

Some better skis that float better would be a good start. The first ride on my 02 last march was in 6" of fluff over groomed trails and it did tend to throw a lot of snow but the sled just didn't feel like it was floating well. I've got some 7" powder hounds to try out this year if we ever get some snow.

Re-drilling the front ski loop mount holes so the ski tip sat at a shallower angle helped to keep the ski from throwing snow in my face in shallow (4-8" or so) snow. I'd like to lift the front a few inches as well, as my hood collects snow in anything over a foot or so.

I have yamaha powder skis off a mountain phazer already, that gave me a little with the larger keel on them. I know my skid plate is the kind that drops a little for the radius rods, which doesn't help much. Jboar posted on one of my threads and said he put short track viper shocks on and it picked his up. He said some people didnt like the handling though, but he likes it. I might just get a set and see for myself.

Or run longer shocks with longer arms like I did. I have 17 FTC shocks plus sx brackets. Mine sits pretty good now

Sounds to me like your shocks are shot. Mine sits just fine and as far as I know they are the originals. Replace'em like others have said. Or just stand up and ride everywhere you go.

I forgot to mention that replacing the shock bushings on my sled raised it a bit.

I put viper shocks on the front of my mountain max, works great. The stock mm shocks are 15 inchs and the viper shocks are 17 inches. I have an extra set if interested.

Viper shocks are longer. This will raise you up.

Make sure your shocks are not saging. You can also try stiffening up the spring.

I have installed them on a couple M-Maxs. Before the Vipers came out. Would put an srx bracket on and build a collar for the bolt to attach the stock shocks to the new bracket. I have tried smashing the female connection down and wedging it inbetween the new bracket tabs. It worked but over time the shock tabs started showing signs of wear where the they were rubbing on the bracket tabs. The srx bracket makes the top a male connection like the bottom. You have to get creative to attach a female to female connection.

See part numbers 19 & 20 here

Do the srx brackets bolt right up to the MM chassis or does it take some custom work?

They bolt right up. You will want the pan head bolt on the bottom for shock clearance.

My little brother might still have some brackets. And he might even have the longer rods for a widening kit. But I will have to check. We use to put the brackets and longer rods on for wider and taller stance.

Sweet, whenever I come across a deal on shocks I'll have to do this.

When putting the viper shocks on, do you have to do anything else parts wise? How about alignment or anything like that or do you just bolt them on and go?!

My Mountain max looks like a low rider when next to the mountain viper!

They will bolt right up. Unless you change stearing or radius rods alignment will stay the same.

Sweet! I'll have to yank the viper parts soon and slap them on the MM. Tired of all the snow in my face!

One other question; how about the viper skis? Does that change anything alignment wise or anything else I should be concerned about or just bolt on and go? That's something else I won't miss is those crappy skis if they do!
