This year I am in the process of installing a 1" hacksaw track 136" with 8 tooth anti-slip drivers. I have read here that these sleds are geared too high from the getgo. Since I am going from 9 tooth drivers to 8 tooth, do you guys think its a good idea to also go one less tooth on the top gear in the gearbox, or will this be too low gearing for this sled? I already bought the gears, just starting to question how well this setup is gonna work.

I just geared down by one tooth last night. I can't comment yet, because I need to put it all back together, Secondary is off for Cleaning, New trailing arm needs a bushing pressed in, and put it all back together. But I am going away this weekend, do some riding, so I should have a good feel for it after that, and they are calling for 6" of snow in the next couple of days, so I hope I can get a good feel for what the change is like. Mind you I did not change my Drivers, stock still on mine...

I would stick with the 8 tooths and factory gearing. I am running 7 tooths to clear my 2inch track, plus one tooth higher (on the top) and with the speedo being off (due to the 7tooth) it feels like 60 ish tops.

Thanks a lot for your replies, good to hear from someone who has tried swapping gears and drivers. I will stick with the stock gearing and see how it runs with my 8 tooth drivers. Thanks again.

Gearing down helped my 95 600 vmax big time. I put in a 2" 144 track with 20/40 gearing 8tooth drivers. I was still in the 60 ish mph. The holeshot is much better.
