Anyone scrap there air box and use filter pods instead ? getting sick of removing it every time i need to get carbs off , plus the foam is getting shot. Was also wondering if jetting changes were needed?

I replaced the foam which was brittle and coming apart almost ready to get sucked into the carb/engine. Some small bits at the intake of the carb already it apeared. Black stuff anyway. I cleaned it all away and used air duct filter mat cut to fit.
as for removing the air box. I doubt you can do that its part of the resonance for the engines peformance and may cause damage if driven long without it.

Unless you enjoy rejetting often, do not get rid of the slush box.

The Yamaha SXs/MMs have very good airboxes complete with factory supplied cold air intake.
Replacing the airbox on these sleds will put you in a world of hurt with substancial rejetting requirements with no performance improvemnts at all in fact probably a performance loss!
