ok 02 viper.cpr pipes jetted for pipes. gwg primary 8ca weights 3.7g in tip red 2ndary spring 49/37 helix. ok the sled pulls awesome to 65. 9100 to 9200 on the dot. but when i get up into the higher speeds it drops major rpms it varies but drops to about 8200 to 8300 rpm in general. and falls on it face power wise because its outta its band. origionally i had the same problem but i was running a ywy primary so i switched to the gwg thinking the higher overall spring rate on top would bring up my rpms.. but it didnt. so i turned to my seconary clutch which is at a 70 degree wrap with red spring. and for sh@ts and giggles wrapped it to 100 degrees and it seemed to help but didnt completly cure my problem. think my sled is over shifting at the higher rpms. or mabey my clutch setup just isnt getting along with itself? a little confused thought the stiller total rate force primary would bring the sled up some rpms in the higher speeds but didnt? mabey time for a green 2ndary spring c if that helps? if i missed any needed info let me know.. thanks for any ideas. like i said im a little baffled but mabey i just dont understand clutching good enough yet either lol. :dunno:

use green secondary spring, 8ca weights and your helix is an aggressive combo

my clutch temps feel good both are warm to touch after a few hotlaps. and mr viper sounds like an idea to me. ill go to the dealer tomarrow and see if they have a green spring if not i will order one wouldnt mind havin one around anyway.

but on a side note i dont really know how hot is too hot. the clutches dont burn or scald me in any way. so i imagine not too hot? but have a warm to hot feeling to them but i have pretty tolarable fingers as well from lots of wrenchin

Your good to go..............

ok picked up a green spring. i lucked out and they had one in stock for 18 dollars. put it in. wrapped it at 70 now right off the line i get 9100 to 9200 rpm then it quickly settles to 8500 to 8600 rpm. i have a 3.7 in tip nothing in the base of the weight. so its geting better and the shift curve seems to be dead on 8500 to 8600 from say about 25 to 30 mph on up till i let off the throttle. only problem is i need to be 9100 rpm all the way through from start to finish of the run. so mabey i need to run less in the tip and put a little in the base to help get my curve up in the rpms on top while keeping the rpm where it is at the bottom? i have a pretty good selection of rivits to go with. so what would one recommend?

oh yeah forgot to add that the backshift is much better with the green spring as well. it doesnt bog out when i let off then get back into it anymore it snaps right back up so def a bonus there.

I would go to 2.4 rivets in the tips. Sometimes you have to grind the rivet heads to get in between the weights. I will drill in the heads of the larger ones to get lighter.

Then, if your shooting above your target rpm(9300+), I would try some alum .8 in the hell and drill as needed, the added weight in heel will make the sled shift hard.

you need to have a small digital gram scale, this will help you alot. You can get them cheap online or at office max etc.

thanks guys for all the help. im gunna the weights out this evening and get some tinkerin in.

i put in the 2.4g rivits in tip as suggested and now upon take off it spools up to 9300 and settles to 9100 to 9200 for the rest of the pull untill i let off the throttle. needless to say im a very happy camper right now. the sled pulls amazing and the backshift is awesome. thank you for setting me straight on my clutching.. ;)!
