I ran a 2" in mine but I believe that I had to use smaller drivers.

you willneed 8 tooth drivers and a new axle if you dont have the hardend one that came in 2001 sleds

I would suggest that you get some 8 tooth Wahl antiwratchets in there because they really like to slip with the smaller diameter drivers on them. As far as the driveshaft I've had three 97 MM's and never had a problem with one breaking.

You will need 8 tooth drivers to fit a 2" track. I have changed alot of these over the years. There are a couple options. If it is a track with the little fingers on the tips of the paddles you could cut the little fingers off to get it down to a 1 3/4". I have done this 5 or 6 times. A utility knife will work takes about an hour. Or go to 8 tooth drivers.
I have seen some broken shafts, but I have also seen '97-'99's with 7-8 thousand miles with stock shafts. In my opinion the biggest cause is racheting the track. Which is very hard on any shaft.
I also recommend the Antirachet drivers and hardened shaft. Nether is required but highly recommended.

i know my buddy had a 1 3/4 track on his 97 vmax with the 9 tooth but will not fit 2 inch, so you will need the 8 tooth drivers, best to get anti rachets
