1979 SRX bogging when warm

I picked up a 1979 SRX from my wife's grandfather that hadn't been run in 20 years. We replaced the carbs with VM38s, swapped out a piston and cylinder, and pieced it all back together. I don't know if we have a jetting problem or something else, but I was testing it out riding circles around the pole barn and once the engine warmed up the power faded and bogged until it eventually wasn't generating enough power to drive the sled. We took the top of the airbox off and it looked like it was blowing some gas box into it, so we assumed the engine was running too rich. We changed the clip position on the needles from the 3rd position to the 4th, but that didn't seem to help so we moved them back. I wasn't pushing the sled at all since it's a fresh rebuild, but it didn't seem like it was generating a lot of power even when cold.

We checked the plugs and they looked good, both cylinders were hot, and the coolant was good too. Is there anything else we can check? Any ideas on how we should have the jetting set up for these carbs on the SRX?

SCARED WHEN I READS THESE PROBLEM BECAUSE TO ME THATS USUALLY A INGINTION PROBLEM. IF YA HAVE 38 CARBS ON THIS, I WOULD SAY AROUND A 360 MJ, POSSIBLEY 35 PILOT, PUT THAT CLIP BACK WHERE YA HAD IT. 3:16 (yammie tony)

Tony, thanks for the reply. Do you mean put it back on the 3rd? I'll give that a shot tomorrow (if the snow holds). Is there anywhere you would start as far as ignition problems? CDI? Coil? Timing seemed good... The only thing we've done on the electrical side was install a set of Hot Grips. All the wires have good continuity...

And just a question for my own edification, why do you associate temp related issues to ignition? I'm definitely not an engine guy, but am trying to learn.

15:1 WAY TO RICH, TAKE THAT BACK TO 40:1. TAKE THAT CLIP BACK OUT AND PUT IT IN LAST GROVE. IF YA HAVE ELECTRICAL, COIL BREAKING etc, IT WILL START TO BREAK DOWN THE MORE HEAT IN THE MOTOR. 3:16 (yammie tony)
