We finally get snow and 31 miles into my first ride and "clank!" Breakdown! The primary clutch fails.
A bolt through a collar that holds one of the weights broke and the weight was able to flip back hard enough to take a chunk out of the primary sliding sheave.
At least it broke down right in front of MacGuires in Cadillac so I could wait for my rescue truck in style.
Local used parts shop has a Viper clutch, complete, for $150. He says it will bolt on and be "close."
Anyone ever try this? What do you think? I was running at 8000 rpm at wide open throttle. I know very little about clutches.

it will work, but the flyweights and spring is different . It will get you by for the weekend but id be changing the spring and weights when you get the chance!

Hi 600 twin pulls 8000 or just a little over it,When my clutch died i used a polaris clutch p85 a brand new one i had in a box and i know why polaris because parts was cheaper and in stock.I had fun testing it with springs and weights.the best spring was 7041781 dark blue , the weights was 10-66 works good.
Good Luck
