HELP - My New Enticer 340 - 81'??

Hi, I just bought a 340 Enticer. I am a little confused as to the year, the ownership lists it as 1981. However every place I looked does not list an ET340 being a model option for that year?

The model # from the inside of the Cowling is: ET340E (8L4)

The model # from the foot rail just above the foot rest is: 8L4-054254

Any guesses regarding the year??

By the way it runs great and is fast!!

for those older ones they are pretty much all the same other than the colour of the hood and graphics.

i own one similar to that in the respect that my year is not listed by yamaha canada or us. i have a 1997 et410tr an since i know enticers pretty well i know what years to order parts from when i need to repair it.

if you could post a pic it might help. i live in azilda so i can give you a hand if needed.

The '81 340 was actually called an Excel III EC340E, basically the same thing as any other year 340 Enticer, just a different color.

Thanks for the heads up! I will post a Pic. I may take you up on the offer sometime.

I bought it with a few issues to work out. I am currently struggling through a choke cable assembly install. The cable is there just not hooked up to the Carb?? I am not certain what pieces are missing? All that is there is in the picture below.

I have been scouring the internet looking for some info on what to purchase and how to install it.

the brass enritchner is stuck in the carb and it looks like the crimp is pulled off the end of the cable. i have one in a carb on my tool box at work with the cable. they seize in all the time. my uncle just had to replace on on a 2001 vk540 because it did the same thing. never had to get one out myself but i have heard that it can be a pain.
