Yamaha 2002 sx viper 700 (non-elec. Start)
Some concern regarding the power valve/servo. I decided to remove and clean the carbon buildup on the power valves. However, in doing so I accidently changed the position of the middle one. Here is what I did.
I removed the four bolts that mount the Power Valve unit to the cylinder. When I pulled the valve out, it got stuck (because of large amount of carbon buildup) I heard the servo motor turn/move. After getting it removed and cleaned I re-installed unit. It went back in/together fine. My question is will it matter what position the vales and/or servo is in when I go to pull start the sled? If it helps I never removed/loosen any cables nor detached the actual valve from the cable.
Also if anyone can give a good description of how the whole Power valve/servo system works I would appreciate it.
Thanks Brian

If you cleaned them all and they move free, The servo will reset when started and run, clean my 04 viper valves every 1000 miles as the manual says running Yamaha lube 2S, it works fine, Dont scratch the coating on the valve.

X2 on alot of write ups. Pull the servo cover, idle below 900 (choke or turn idle down) if wheel is twitching than valves are already to tight and you need to loosen them up prior to marking servo wheels position
